jcet braZIL 25-01 BEGINS
BRAZIL — U.S. special operations personnel from B Squadron, Combat Applications Group, recently completed a five-day Close Quarters Battle (CQB) Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) with host-nation forces in Brazil. Led by SOTU-1 under CJSOTF-AF’s Special Operations Task Group ICARUS, the intensive program focused on sharpening both deliberate and dynamic entry techniques across a spectrum of combat environments.
The JCET began with a two-day block dedicated to low-light and night vision device (NOD)-restricted operations, reinforcing disciplined movement and verbal discipline in austere, zero-light structures. Deliberate clears emphasized precise angles, containment, and silent team maneuvering—critical skills for urban operations where control is paramount. Brazilian special operations partners integrated closely with U.S. elements during this phase, adapting quickly to the SOPs and night-fighting methods employed by SOTU-1.
The second half of the course transitioned into dynamic daylight clears, where participants conducted high-speed runs through multi-room compounds. Training scenarios simulated rapid threat engagement, civilian presence, and adaptive architecture, requiring real-time decision-making and fluid team coordination. Operators drilled entries using two-, three-, and four-man formations, blending free-flow CQB concepts with hybrid stack techniques to handle a range of structure types.
The JCET culminated in live force-on-target practical applications (PRACAPPs), during which teams executed timed assaults on known target compounds. These final iterations tested not only tactical execution but also leadership under stress. SOTU-1’s instruction throughout the rotation reinforced interoperability and CQB fundamentals while enhancing the collective readiness of all partner forces involved. This bilateral effort underscores Joint Task Force Olympus’ commitment to cultivating capable, combat-ready allies through shared doctrine and immersive, realism-focused training.

Enhancing Joint Force Reach Across Africa
Posted on 18MAY2025 by Joint Task Force Olympus Public Affairs
Joint Task Force Olympus is proud to announce the formal activation of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Africa (CJSOTF-AF). This new command serves as the central coordinating authority for all JTFO-affiliated Special Operations Task Units (SOTUs) conducting operations across the African continent. From counterterrorism and foreign internal defense to special reconnaissance and direct action, CJSOTF-AF enables a unified and adaptive approach to regional mission requirements.

"CJSOTF-AF isn’t just about structure—it’s about connection. It brings together units from across the community to share experience, sharpen capabilities, and operate as something greater than the sum of its parts."
— MAJ Jarvis Hardman
As JTFO continues to grow in scope and capability, CJSOTF-AF stands as a testament to the power of unified command in a complex battlespace. Future updates will spotlight each SOTU’s contributions, operations, and mission successes. Units interested in joining the Combined Joint Task Force are encouraged to message JTFO command.
